I ended up graduating with my degree in music business, and got a job working in royalties, which is Music Business for “spreadsheets”. I decided to take a leap and pursue something more hands-on and creative: Screen printing. This was my transition into the visual arts community, and is still my “day job”. A structured process with room for creativity, but still with enough research and understanding of the craft for it to have been streamlined over the years into a massively successful, creative, hands-on industry.
After almost two years in screen printing, I was completely in love with the creativity and physical involvement that came with visual art, and had been inspired to delve deeper into the mediums and crafts that were out there. This is how we circle back to stained glass (finally!). I had seen videos and pictures online of a modernized stained glass industry: Bright colors, fun designs, and an incredible amount of individual personality in the work of each artist. Who knew that stained glass was so much more than church windows??? I started looking up tutorials and purchasing supplies, and the rest is history! This is truly an addictive craft, but one you have to be passionate about to continue to pursue, because it is not for the faint of heart! It takes patience, practice and a good deal of investment to even start out, and I’m in it for the long haul.
I use the Tiffany method for creating stained glass projects. This includes copper foil and 60/40 (tin/lead) metal alloy solder. I am excited to continue learning and to explore other methods of this craft in addition to perfecting my current method!
Hi! I’m Jess.
In the spring of 2024, I decided to pursue stained glass. Self taught in the craft, I am excited to create quality products that add something special to the home or business they end up in.
I was raised Catholic and surrounded by stained glass my whole life. As far as visual arts were concerned, I never thought that I could contribute to that community. I was far more passionate and knowledgeable about music and instrumentation, and always thought that I would end up in that field. This is how I found myself going to college for Music Business.
My first ever stained glass project! How far we’ve come :)
